The New Jersey Commission on Higher Education (COHE), the state body that oversees higher education institutions in New Jersey, unanimously approved today a motion to recommend that NJ college and university presidents consider signing the American College & University Presidents Climate Change Commitment (ACUPCC) June 22, 2007

The ACUPCC is a commitment to prepare a plan to make each campus “climate-neutral”.  5 New Jersey schools have already signed, and over 400 presidents have signed the ACUPCC nationally.  GPA President John Cusack had proposed this motion in his role as part-time Executive Director of the New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS), and the motion was formally sponsored by Dr. Ed Yaw, President of the County College of Morris and chair of the NJ Presidents Council, with strong support from the current Chair of the COHE, Larry Downes, CEO of New Jersey Resources.
