“Sustainable Energy Technology Trends” June 2, 2009
On 2 June, Mr. Cusack was the keynote speaker at the Stevens Institute of Technology’s Environmental Entrepreneurship (E2) Alternative Energy Workshop, held on 2 June at Stevens’ campus in Hoboken, NJ. His topic was “Sustainable Energy Technology Trends”, which was well-received by the audience of research professors, students, venture capitalists, angel investors and government experts.
NJHEPS Annual Sustainability Education Conference May 29, 2009
In his role as part-time Executive Director of the New Jersey Higher Education Partnership for Sustainability (NJHEPS), Mr. Cusack was the Moderator of the NJHEPS Annual Sustainability Education Conference, held at Rutgers University’s Bloustein School on 29 May in New Brunswick, NJ. As a result of this successful event with over 135 registrants, NJHEPS will hold a fall Sustainability Education Workshop as well, and aim for at least two such Workshops every year.

Mr. Cusack was a panelist on a panel on “Socially-responsible Investing” at the Fairleigh Dickenson University (FDU) Green Business Conference, sponsored by the FDU Institute for Sustainable Enterprise on 20-21 May.
“Greening Higher Education: Saving the Planet and Saving Money” May 4, 2009
As part of the renowned New England Board of Higher Education’s first Sustainability Conference, “Greening Higher Education: Saving the Planet and Saving Money”, Mr. Cusack was asked by Michael K. Thomas, President & CEO of the NEBHE to facilitate and moderate a panel on the “Business Case for Sustainability”. This conference was held in Boston, MA on 4 May, and attracted over 230 higher education leaders from around New England and beyond.
NJDEP Environmental Stewardship Stakeholder Meeting April 9, 2009
As a result of a number of prior partnerships with the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), Mr. Cusack was asked to participate in the NJDEP Environmental Stewardship Stakeholder Meeting held on 9 April at NJDEP headquarters in Trenton, NJ. As a result of the meeting, NJHEPS and Mr. Cusack will convene a meeting later in 2009 of New Jersey’s corporate sustainability leaders to review the NJDEP Environmental Stewardship Program and offer suggestions for improvements.
Visit to Cape Town March 30, 2009
During a visit to South Africa, John Cusack had the opportunity to meet with Mr. Graham Sinclair, a sustainable finance consultant and advisor for South African investment funds, in Cape Town on 30 March. Mr. Cusack offered his support to Mr. Sinclair on his forth-coming project to initiate a Social Investment Forum for African-based investors.
NJIT Technology & Society Lecture Series March 25, 2009
Mr. Cusack was selected to introduce Leith Sharp, founder of the Harvard University Green Campus Initiative, when Ms. Sharp spoke about “Organizational Change Management for Sustainability: The Harvard Case Study” at the monthly NJIT Technology & Society Lecture Series on March 25. Prior to the lecture, NJIT honored Leith with a luncheon in Eberhardt Hall, and Mr. Cusack gave Leith a short tour of the NJIT campus, including the solar arrays on the Student Center roof and other green features. Judging the PSEG Environmental Vision Awards March 20, 2009
PSEG, New Jersey’s largest electric and gas utility, requested that Mr. Cusack serve again as a Judge for the PSEG Environmental Vision Awards program for PSEG Employees. Judging took place on 20 March at PSEG’s Newark headquarters, and the Awards were distributed at the PSEG-sponsored GreenFest event held on 27 March. This is the second consecutive year that Mr. Cusack has had the honor of serving as a judge for these important awards for PSEG employees who show a commitment to environment and sustainability issues above and beyond their position descriptions.
